DIXMUDE DISASTER
EVIDENCE AGAINST VOSS [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYEIGHT.] LONDON, April 4. A full statement by the Salford Coroner relating to Voss shows that Scotland Yard communicated with the Salford police, in consequence of information received from the Imperial Airways Company. ' The Coroner states: The fire broke out near where Voss sat. He must have flung himself from the aeroplane immediately. The fingers of Voss’s left hand were badly burned. He was insured for £5OO for the flight, besides other policies. Voss undoubtedly was financially embarrassed. He was wanted by the police for alleged embezzlement in Germany. It is now questioned whether the schoolgirl victim of the air liner, hitherto described as Voss’s niece, was any relation. THREATS OF SUICIDE (Rec. April 5, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, April 4. C ‘l shall inquire whether Voss took poison aboard the liner, and whether he became strange and set fire to the plane,” said the Coroner, at the inquest at Salford. Hugo Voss, the son, in evidence said that his father was an undischarged bankrupt. Sometimes he excitably threatened to commit suicide, in such a fashion that the family regarded it as a joke. Voss added: “I am sure that my father would never do a dastardly thing like firing the liner.” The inquest was adjourned until April 27. RAILWAY CO.’s SERVICE RUGBY, April 4. The Great Western Railway will in a few days, inaugurate a daily air service between Cardiff, Torquay and North Coast watering places.
