MUSIC EXHIBITIONS

GREYMOUTH SUCCESSES. The list of Trinity College Exhibitions for the practical examinations held in New Zealand in 1932, has just arrived from London. Each year the Board awards fourteen exhibitions to the candidates gaining the highest marks in the junior intermediate, senior and higher local divisions, pro--vided such' candidates are below the prescribed age-limit. Seven exhibitions are given in the North Island and seven in the South Island | Of the latter, five have been gained in the Greymouth Centre. The exhibitioners are:- — Ida Clayton (senior violin), 97 per cent. Tessie McSherry (senior violin), 97 per cent. Colleen Phillips (intermediate violin), 97 per cent. Jean Duggan (intermediate piano) 95 per cent. “ Barbara McDougall (junior piano) 94 per cent. The first four candidates are pupils of the Convent of Mercy, Greymouth, and the last is a pupil of Miss M. Topliss. , For the last three years, Misses Ida Clayton and Tessie McSherry have gained the highest marks in the South Island for Junior, Intermediate and Senior. For the last two years, Colleen Phillips has gained the highest marks in the South Islnad for Junior and Intermediate. The senior exhibitioners will receive nine guineas each, the intermediate exhibitioners six guineas each, and the junior exhibitioner six guineas.
