BEARS KILL KEEPERS [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] PARIS, March 11. Two out of fifteen bears in a huge cage at a. public exhibition at Marseilles began fighting. Then all fifteen joined in a. fearful melee. Two keepers gamely entered the cage to try and pacify them, both being mauled to death before the onlookers.

RUGBY, March 11. The second stage of the extension
northwards and westwards of the Piccadilly underground railway, which will be opened on Monday, is part of one of the biggest, transport developments which have followed the phenomenal growth of greater London since the War. The first section was opened in September and the full scheme will be completed in June. The section to be opened on Monday carries the tube railway into the rural district northwards from Finsbury Park. The new through artery from Hounslow in the west to north London will be twenty-four miles across London and will provide the longest underground railway in London. EXPEDITION’S LOSS. OSLO. March 11. A relative has received a, telegram that the Larsen expedition has lost all its equipment, 60 sledge dogs being drowned, in a violent gale. A Norwegian whaler rescued the expedition. DUKE’S HUNTING TRIP. LONDON. March IL The Duke of Gloucester has returned to London from a two months’ expedition in the Soudan. His trophies include two elephants and two lions. GREEK MINISTRY. ATHENS, March 11. The Tsaldaris Cabinet has been sworn in. M. Maximos takes Foreign Affairs and M. Loverdos, Finance.
