S. AUSTRALIA V. ENGLAND.
VISITORS’ ADVANTAGE.
[by CABLE —PBEBB ABBN. —COPYBIGHT.]
ADELAIDE, March 12
The weather was ideal and the wicket was fast for the resumption ot the cricket match, South Australia- \eisus England. The sensation ot the morning was the dismissal of Jardine in the first over, and also of late toi nil, Tgbin’s bowling figures reading two for one in the initial over of the day. Ames gave a confident display, passing the half century in sixty-one minutes. He hit five fours. His bright innings terminated when he attempted to force the pace, and was caught at mid-on by Lonergan at sixtythree. Bowes was run out in a remarkable manner. Grimmet missed a catch from a hit at cover, but made a smart return to Walker, who, running halfway down the pitch, with an accurate throw back, broke the wicket. England were all out for 298, made in 351 minutes. For the third time Richardson made a duck against the Englishmen. The second ball to him rebounded from his fingers, and was taken by Verity in the slips. Lonergan, another local hope also fell a victim to Bowes. The outstanding feature of the South Australian innings, following a shaky start, was the stand of Ryan, the only local man to put up fight. Ten fours were included in his 61 runs. Nitschke was fairly aggressive. South Australia were 107 behind on the first innings. England, in the second innings, lost none for seven. Scores:
