The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Championship meeting opened at Lancaster Park, this afternoon, in brilliant sunshine. The track was fast, but a north-east breeze was blowing across the ground and it hindered the sprinters. Results: — One Mile Footrace. —J. G. Barnes (Otago) 1, J. AV. Savidan (Auckland) 2, A. D. Kane (Canterbury) 3. Also competed: M. Cook (Wellington), N. F. Cooper (Auckland), H. J. Eaton and W. L. Sargison (Canterbury). Won by 15 yards. Time 4.24 2-5. Throwing the Discus. —P.
