MONEY IN BANK

PLIGHT OF INVENTOR.

LONDON, January 8

The plight of a visitor to this country from Buenos Aires, who has money in his bank there but cannot get it here, was described to Mr Bertrand Watson, the Clerkenwell magistrate, yesterday. “This man,’’ said Sergt. Elder, the warrant officer, “is an inventor from Buenos Aires. He is in a good position, but owing to the difficulty oi getting credits-from Rio he has been during the past ■week, absolutely penniless. Being unable to pay his bill, he was ejected from his hotel, and napers which arc of value to him, as well as clothing, are detained. “A police-sergeant called at the hotel, but was told to mind his own business, and the door was slammed in his face. “He has been to his Consul, who says he is sorry but he is living on credit himself!”

Mr Watson: I know it is very difficult. The State of Rio is not allowed to send money out at present, although there is money in the bank." Sergt. Elder asked that a summons for the detention of the clothing and papers should be issued tree. The applicant. he said, told him he had even been sleeping in doss-houses. Mr Watson agreed to remit the usual fee of 2/-.
