DON JAIME’S ESTATE
LAWSUIT BETWEEN SISTERS.
VIENNA, January 20
The hearing began to-day at Wie-ner-Neustadt of the suit concerning the will of Don Jaime of Bourbon, the Carlist claimant to the Spanish throne who died in Paris in 1931.
The plaintiff is Princess Alice del Prete, who is suing her sister, Princess Beatrice of Bourbon-Massimo. They are sisters of Don Carlos. Among the witnesses in the case, on the outcome of which depends the inheritance of property of great value is the Archduchess Blanche of Habsburg, another sister. In addition to estates, the action relates to: The diamond necklace which was given by Napoleon to the Archduchess Louise, and which Marie Antoinette wore on the scaffold; The embalmed heart of Louis XIV.; and
The armchair used by Louis XVI. just before his execution. The will leaves the bulk of the property to Princess Beatrice of Bourbon-Massimo. A part, however, was left to the Archduchess Blanche, who lives in Vienna. Princess Alice del Prete was only to receive an annual in come of 12,000 francs (£140). As sister of the heiress to the valuable property she felt entitled to a greater share. She states that Princess Beatrice agreed to an equal division of the property among the three sisters.
Don Jaime’s estate included Frohsdorf Castle and property at Nice, valued at £170,000.
