N.B.A. MEETING RESULTS

TRENTHAM, March 8
The annual four days’ meeting of the National Rifle Association, opened at Trentham to-day in fine weather. Service matches were fired in the morning. Those matches are compulsory, and competitors with the 40 highest aggregate scores are eligible to participate in the final match for the service championship. At the top of the service forty is Cadet A. M. Jenkinson of Mount Albert Grammar School, Auckland, and F. J. Solar, AVanganui, each with 141 out of a possible 190. No. 1 service match, consisting of seven round application, ten rounds rapid and ten rounds snapshooting all at 300 yards, was won by H. R. Hunt (Wellington). No. 2 service match, comprising a tile competition and a moving target competition was won by Rifleman F. S. Hood (Featherston) with 41 out of 55. A start was made in the afternoon with the Belt series of matches, the King and Henry Match, which galled for seven rounds at 300, 500 and 600 yards, being completed. The -winner was Nicholl, the reigning champion, who only dropped four points out of a possible 105. The winner in the B. Grade was I. J. Nicholls, North Bank.
TO-DAY’S RESULTS
TRENTHAM, March 9
The annual matches for the King's Prize wsre advanced a further stage at the meeting of the National Rifle Association at Trentham, this morning, when marksmen assembled at squadding posts for the day’s shooting. Rain was falling but as the morning advanced, the weather took a turn for the better.
The Canterbury match, 10 rounds at 300yds, was completed during the morning, the winner being C. J. Nix (Featherstone) who scored the possible, with which he collected first prize of £7. R. H. Nicholl (Petone) was runner up.
The world’s record for seven shots at each of the 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges was equalled during the weeken by Rifleman G. E. Putt, ot the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club, in a practice shoot. He scored the possible of 35 on each range, making the possible total of 105. The shooting was done with a heavy Lithgow barrel procured from Sydney.
