SURF CLUB Members of the Greymouth Surf Club will patrol both the Seven-Mile beach, where the Otira picnic is to be held, and the Blaketown beach on Sunday next. The team for the Seven Mile beach will be:—F. Moss, P. Affleck, H. Bouterey, F. Costello, H. Blanchfield, J. Moss, P. G. Smith, F. Thorpy. The Blaketown beach patrol will be: —E. Price, C. Richardson, H. Scott. AV. Smith, G. Scott, T. Lawry, F. Gilbert, C. Hall. SOCCER. A meeting of the Westland Football Association was held last evening. Present: Mr J. Sharp (chairman), Messrs AV. Sharp, E. Flood, E. Airey (Secretary), AV. Robertson and F. M. Smith.
A. McAnulty, who is resident in Christchurch, wrote asking that his suspension, which has been in force for the last two years, should be lifted in order to enable him to participate in mid-week football. —It was decided that the suspension should be I lifted and that the C.F.A. be notified. It was decided that the names of J. Cowe, R. Marshall and AV. Timlin should be submitted to the C.F.A. for consideration for the Canterbury team versus Otago at Dunedin as a trial match for selecting prospectitve players for the Australian tour. It was decided to submit the following remit to the N.Z. Council: “See-’ ing that the Australian F.A. has been unsuccessful in arranging for a visit of an English team, that New Zealand should co-operate with Australia in an endeavour to get a visit from any Soccer playing country that Australia should suggest.
