The New Zealand Intermediate Junior Swimming Championships were continued this afternoon and evening in the Municipal Baths, when a thousand present saw some outstanding performances, notably that of Crump (Auckland) in the 100yds. Intermediate Free Style, when he broke his own record in his heat, and again broke that record in the final. Auckland are leading for the War Memoiial Shield with five points, Otago three, and Manawatu one. COBDEN CLUB’S CARNIVAL. The weather was fine for the Cobden Swimming. Club’s carnival conducted in the Municipal Baths last evening, and there was a good attendance. The 100 yards open handicap was won by G. Prime off 7secs. from W. O’Leary. M. Keith had a comfortable victory in. the 50 yards open handicap, while L. Lind won the 220 yards handicap. In the ladies’ 33 1-3 yards handicap, Miss M. Cullen won in the fast time of 213-ssecs. The water polo, won by Cobden, proved a popular event. Results: — 220 Yards Handicap (final). L. An inter-club water-polo match was won by Cobden by . two goals to one. Hardie scored both goals for Cobden and Costello scored Greymouth’s goal CENTRE MEETING. At a meeting of the West Coast Swimming Centre, presided over by Mr H. Rattray, it was decided to rescind a motion to Ihe effect l hat clubs be compelled to pay 10 per cent, uf the nett gate takings to the Centre. It was further decided that clubs bo asked to pay 2J per cent, of the gross takings. Messrs W. Keesing and S. C. Robertson were appointed delegates to the New Zealand Council, for the New Zealand Senior National Championships, to be held at Napier, commencing 011 Saturday, February 18. It was decided to donate £3 3/- towards the expenses of Misses Walls and Robertson, of Westport, who are competing at the N.Z. Junior Championships at Invercargill. 'The Greymouth Club was granted permission to challenge Westport for the John Burns Challenge Cup on Thursday next.
