FURTHER HEAVY DAMAGE. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, January 26. Storms continue to cause heavy damage in parts of the country. Sixteen inches of rain fell at Eden, on the south coast, in as many hours, during a violent storm. The business premises and homes were flooded for miles. The waters rushed fast and deep over the roads. Several bridges were swept away on the Princess highway, the main road to Victoria and traffic was cut off. The Post Office at Hathercote was flooded, and the postmaster and his family were forced to race for safety. There was an extraordinary storm at Dorrigo, accompanied by torrential rain, deafening thunder and nerveracking lightning. Three people were taken'to the hospital, paralysed, after being struck by lightning. Crops were washed out of the ground. The hail penetrated the hides of the cattle, leaving them bleeding. Houses and sheds were unroofed.

(Reed. January 27, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 27. A further downpour drenched the Metropolitan area last night. More rain and thunderstorms are expected to-day. The temperature yesterday reached .94.4. The humidity was 86 at eight o’clock in the evening. FLOODS AT MELBOURNE. MELBOURNE, January 27. A rain storm burst in the city late yesterday. The streets were flooded to a depth of two feet in low lying parts. Lightning dislocated the electric systems in half a dozen suburban areas. BRISBANE PREPARATIONS. BRISBANE, January 27. The Ward and Langro rivers are rising rapidly. Sheep have been removed from all river frontages in low lying country. The rain recommenced last night.
