CHRISTCHURCH, January 26. The second wool sale of the season was held in the Caledonian Hall yesterday, when 25,000 bales were submitted to a full bench of buyers, states the official report. There was a good selection of fine quality wools, most of which were sound and well grown. There was a smaller proportion than usual of real ly showy lots, and many of the clips were inclined to be a little dusty and' yolk-stained. Competition was exceedingly keen, especially from the Continental buyers, while the local mills were again in the market for super lots. Bradford was well to the fore for topmaking sorts and lower grades. Fine wools were showing practically a halfpenny advance independent of the rise in exchange, while the lower grades were firm, showing a little advance on our last sale.
