The United States ranks seventeenth in military strength among the world’s nations. * General MacArthur informed the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee that the United States has 132,069 men on active service, and 307,120 on the reserve. The British Empire ranks eleventh in strength with 4,031,182 men in active service and 711,453 on the reserve and 48,569 in the Air Force. Russian is placed first by General MacArthur, with 848,600 men on active service, and 18,025,000 men in the reserve. France is second in strength, with 607,000 men on active service and 6,328,000 in the reserve, and 40,005 in the Air Force. Italy comes third, with 457,189 men on active service, and 6,017,000 in the reserve, and 23.452 in the Air Force.
