DISCOURAGING REPORT
KALGOQRLIE, December .‘W. Mr Michael Terry, who reached Kalgoorlie to-day after a prospecting expedition through the Warburton and Livesey ranges to Lavarton, on behalf of the Emu Mining Company of Adelaide, said' he had come to the regrettable conclusion that the Warburton ranges did' not hold any inducement for a. company to develop their mineral resources, and he did not propose to retLirn there.
Discussing the mineral possibilities of the country 'east of Laverton, Mr 'Jerry said that last year he went out to lhe Warburton ranges with a party, and carried out what lie believed to bo the first detailed footwork. Upon returning to that portion of the country (his year, ho enlarged upon that work. He had examined the Rawlinson ranges, and, except for the portion. secured for the Endeavour Company by Mr 1,. A. Wells, he could see
no reason for prospecting there. He had secured details of 80 parties which had gone through that country since it was first discovers'' by Giles and, Goss in the early 70’s. There was J not one authenticated instance of any | parcel of gold having ever come from the area, which was merely burdened with tales of lost reefs and caves of gold. The stories had not been uphole 1 by any prospecting expedition’s linds. It was now getting to a. state where prospecting expeditions w«re only financed when they dealt with lost finds'. Orthodox prospecting parties, which had .some chance of success, found it difficult to secure linancial assistance.
