Also started—(B) Free Advice, (7) Glenrossie, (5) Kingcraft, (2) R6d Shadow and Royal Silk (coupled), (6) Impromptu and (9) Carmel. Harold Logan, from the inside position, did not begin so quickly as usual, and Roi L’Or at once raced to the front from Red Shadow, Gold Country, Royal Silk, Kigcraft and Harold Logan. ' Kingcraft then took up the running, with Roi L’Or, Gold Country, Harold Logan, Impromptu, Red Shadow, Carhiel, Free Advice and Glenrossie following in that order. Three furlongs from home Kingcraft led from Harold Logan, Roi L’Or, Gold Country, Impromptu and Royal Silk. Half way down the straight Harold Logan took the lead, but Roi L’Or, finishing strongly, beat Harold Logan by a neck, with the third horse six lengths away. Impromptu was fourth. Times: 2.38 1-5, 2.38 2-5, 2.3,9 4-5. - THE RACING DESCRIBED. WEST FOR FIRST WRACK. [SPECIAL TO “STAR.”] CHRISTCHURCH, November 11. First Wrack was again entrusted with the ,public confidence in the Governor’s Handicap, and though she was in a good position until the straight was reached, she appeared hopelessly boxed in half way down the running. M. Holmes showed cleverness, and took risks in extricating her from the pocket, but once clear, First Wrack buried the fest for speed arid won by a narrow margin. Slie was easily : the best trotter in the race, but her driver should have ben asked a question. Worthy Queeji again trotted soundly, but had Mountain Mist received a better run he would have beaten her. The last named should develop into a good class trotter.

Sodium Creates Surprise: In the Enfield Handicap, of one mile in saddle, Sodium made a great run over the last three furlongs and won on his merits, beating another fastfinisher in Steel All, who was paying close on'half a century to win. Both the winner and runner up have disappointed frequently. Chef was never dangerous.

Win for Lindbergh: Lindbergh scored an overdue win in the Christchurch Handicap, when handily placed from the start. He finished with great speed, and won handsomely. Red Shadow again went a good race, but had had enough at the finish. Rollo went «his best race at the meeting, but had no chance with the winner.

Australasian Handicap to Ron: Ron had a great battle with Silver De Oro in the Australasian Handicap, and won by a neck, but the latter was unlucky in being stopped when going well. She is a great pony and will do still better. She went 4.24 3-5 from a 4.35 mark, a great performance. Gold Tingle, who finished third, went a. fine race and will win in the near future. Wrecker was nevei’ dangerous.

Gold Country’s Easy Win: Gohl Country, in the Hornby Handicap, made the rest look like second raters, for he hit the front soon after the start and was not afterwards troubled. He is a high grade pacer and will win more races.

Dillon Logan covered a lot of ground, and was fighting on at the finish, while Dilworth struggled into third place. The winner was plainly superior.

Another Surprise: Arctotis, after winning the Middleton Handicap, was the subject of an enquiry for inconsistent running after the race, but no action was taken. He gavo a fine exhibition, quite different to some of his displays. Wrackler trotted fast all the way, and his 3.15 4-5 is a mile and a-half record for New Zealand. He is the best trotter in New Zealand to-day. Win for the Favourite:

A hot favourite in Sunny Morn was always nicely placed in the Lyttelton Handicap, but he was all out to win from Harvest Child and Sir Guy. The winner is not so good as some of his admirers claim him to be. Arabond broke down in the race.

Harold Logan Beaten: Harold Logan was backed down to a Gloaming price in the Free-For-All, but though he had every chance, he wag soundly beaten by Roi L’Or. He went 2.38 1-5, a New Zealand record for a mile and a-auarter, and he fairly outpaced the champion oer the last part. Gold Country showed Speed in running third, and will do still better.
