At about 8.30 o’clock last evening', an attempt was made to gain an entry into the residence of Captain and Mrs IL Moar in Turnmaha Street. Captain Moar was in (own at the time, and his wife had gone to visit a neighbour, leaving three young children in the house. The children heaid a- man enter the back, verandah, go into the pantry and try (he kitchen door. They screamed, and the man ran away through a neighbour’s property. When the mother returned, the only description they could give of the man, was that he wore' no hat. Captain Moar stated to-day that only last week, a man was heard prowling round near the back door, but he escaped over a back fence, before he could be caught or recognised.
