OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT “Letters of Fire,” with Edward G. Robinson, FI. B. Warner and Marion March, will be finally screened at the Opera House to-night. “Let’s Love and Laugh,” a British production featuring Gene Gerrard, will be screened at Wednesday’s matinee, evening and Thursday.

FRANZ JOSEF EXCURSION
A special excursion has been arranged to the Franz Josef Glacier on Saturday, October 22. Messrs. Graham Bros, have specially reduced the tariff at the Glacier Hotel. In dhe evening the Aero Club Ball will be held, which promises to be a huge success. An orchestra has been specially engaged to supply the music and all arrangements are well in hand, due to the efforts of a live committee. Take this opportunity to visit this popular resort.
EXHIBITION AND CARNIVAL
Headed, by members of the Greymouth Pipe Band, the procession which leaves the Railway Station at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow, will take the usual route along Mawhera Quay. Boundary Street, Mackay Street, Tainui Street, High Street to the Technical College, where Mr T. E. Coates, Chairman of the Board, will open the carnival, immediately after which the judges will give their decision regarding the fancy costumes.' A feature of this year’s effort will be a very thorough exhibition under full working conditions of the Engineering Workshop and Science La Moratory, where up-to-date method's of demonstration will be adopted. House - craft, cookery, needlework, handwork, will be found for inspection in the Home Science division, while a splendid show of Freehand and Object Drawing is arrange' 1 in the new Art room. Woodwork and working models will as usual attract much attention, and instrumental drawing, machine drawing, and practical tool manufacture will represent the Engineering Department. Commercial and professional men should find an answer to their desire for well trained assistants whose work is exhibited in many phases. The stalls promise to be a great suc--cess, the whole of the school being utilised to accommodate these and the exhibition combined. Tea rooms and refreshment rooms, ice-cream and soft drinks, and a lively court for side shows will help to make all merry.
. The fete and exhibition continues throughout the evening, when the Municipal Band will provide an openair concert.
