50 MILES CHAMPIONSHIPS. [per press association.] WELLINGTON, September 17. The fifty miles provincial championship to-day resulted: —P. N. Robinson (2hr. 29min. 20 4-ssecs) 1; C. Ericsson (2hr 30min 29sec) 2; F. Franklyn (2hr SOmin 31 4-ss6c) 3. DUNEDIN. September 17. The Otago Amateur Fifty-mile Road Championship was held in* ideal weather this afternoon. Results: G. Foster (lOmin) 1; C. J. Lucas (4min) 2; J. Kewish (7min) 3. The winner’s time was 2hr lOmin 18sec. Fastest time was secured by Lucas —2hr 6min. D. Smart was second fastest, and A. Hagerty (Winton) third fastest. GOULBURN—SYDNEY RACE. SYDNEY,- September 18. The cycle road race from Goulburn to Sydney, of 129 miles, in which two hundred amateurs and 133 professionals took part, was decided to-day in unfavourable weather, with head winds and showers. E. Millikin, of Victoria, won the. amateur section from in the record time of five hours, thirty-eight minutes, forty-two seconds. B. Sefton, with a handicap of 385 minutes, was second. E. Johns, off scratch, was third.
T. Brown, with a handicap ox 575 minutes, won the professional event in six hours, seven minutes, thirty seconds. T. Brooks, 575 minutes, was second; and T. Walters, sixty minutes’ start, was third. R. Lamb, the International, did not start. A special prize for the fastest time for the professionals was won by H. Cruise, of Victoria, whose time was five hours, forty-six minutes, fifty-nine seconds.
