ROMANCE BECOMES REAL

STAR’S SECOND MARRIAGE.

NEW YORK, August 11.

The whirlwind marriage of Ruth Chatterton and her new leading man, George Brent, has startled the film world.

The ceremony was performed only a few hours after the film star had received notification that Ralph Forbes, her formex- husband, had been granted a divorce in Nevada on the grounds of mental cruelty. “Filmdom’s champion squabblers” was the title they earned. Five times in theix - short married life they parted. Among the reason given fox* the repeated Forbes-Chatterton rifts was the husband’s insistence on dressing for dinner —a rule he invariably followed himself, and nevei' failed to exact on the part of his wife. Miss Chatterton still professes “a high regard” fox - Forbes. It is clear, however, that for, some months —possibly before the last separation took place—she had been developing a pronounced liking fox* Mr Brent. This became all the more noticeable during the making of “The Rich Are Always With Us!” With the finish of that production Miss Chatterton demanded that Mr. Brent should be hex’ leading man in all hex - future pictures! Miss Chatterton is 39 and hex* new husband only 2S. ,
