WINTER SPORTS

AT THE HERMITAGE. [FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] THE HERMITAGE, August 27. Yesterday’s break in the weather developed to-day into a strong gale at Ball Hut, with steady rain, which continued all day. Ski-ing was impossible. The South Island Inter-Club sports meeting was, therefore, abandoned, the Down Hill and Relay and Jump events not being held. The meeting resulted in a good win for the Tasman Ski Club. The details of the aggregate points are as follow: —Tasman Ski Club 200, Canterbury Winter Sports Club 167.4, Christchurch Ski Club 160.22, Aorangi (one event) 85.59. The majority of the competitors returned to The Hermitage this evening, but will attend the Aorangi championship meeting at Ball Hut on Monday.

NATIONAL-PARK RESULTS.

THE CHATEAU, August 27. The Now Zealand ski-ing sports were continued to-day at the National Park, there being the largest and most representative entries were recorded in the Dominion. The Ruapehu Ski Club Championship of seven events was held at Scoria Flat, National Park. Results:— Men’s Long Distance Race (12 competitors).—C. F. Taylor (Rangatuaua) 1, R.» C.
