OBITUARY
MR JOHN J. BREEZE. The death occurred at the Westland Hospital last evening of Mr. John Jerome Breeze, a pioneer resident of Hokitika, at the age of 78 years. A native of Hobart, Tasmania, the late Mr. Breeze arrived in Hokitika with his parents in the ’sixties, and had resided there since, carrying on his trade as bootmaker. He had been a members of the Hospital Board foi over fifty years, for many years as chairman, and had also served on the Borough Council. Mr. Breeze was one of the founders of the horticultural and poultry and pigeon societies, in Hokitika, and had acted as judge ot poultry sections at various shows. He was a Freemason, one of ._tbe earliest, members of Lodge Kilwinning, ana also a member of the Royal Arch Chapter. He held the Royal Humane Society’s medal, he having saved five persons from drowning. The deceased is survived by his wife, six sons, John (Carterton), Leo (Wellington), Sydney (Wellington), William,. Ford and David (Hokitika), and five daughters, Mesdames L. Jacobs, D. Diedrichs (Hokitika), Griffen (Waihi), R. Fisher (Johnsonville), and Berney (South Canterbury). One son, Patrick, was killed at the War. The funeral will take place to-morrow at Hokitika.
MR PATRICK O’BOYLE. The death occurred at the Grey River Hospital last evening, of Mr Patrick O’Boyle, aged 72 years, after a fairly lengthy illness. ’ The deceased, who was a native of County Antrim, Ireland, came to New Zealand in 1879, landing at Canterbury. He came to the West Coast in 1886, and had resided at Camerons for the past forty years. The late Mr O’Boyle entered the hospital a fortnight ago for treatment. He is survived by his wife, and also by two brothers and two sisters in Ireland. The funeral will leave St. Patrick’s Church at 10.30 a.m., to-morrow, for Karoro Cemetery. ’ MRS S. E. PETERS. The death occurred at her late residence, Christchurch, yesterday, of Mrs. Sarah Emma Peters, aged 77 years. The deceased, who had been ailing for the past six months, was a native of County Down, Ireland, and came to New Zealand when young. With her husband, who predeceased her some thirty years ago, she conducted an hotel at Kumara for many years. She removed to Christchurch about fourteen years ago, and had resided there since. The deceased is survived by three sons, Percy (Greymouth), Edward (North Island), and Arthur (Westport). One son was killed hi the Great War, and two daughters died during the epidemic in 1918. The funeral is to take place privately at Christchurch, to-day. • MRS SARAH MAYO. The death occurred this morning, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs R. Bellis, Wilson Street, of Mrs Sarah Mayo,-aged 79 years. The deceased, who had been in ill-health for the past two years, was a native of London, and came to New Zealand 56 years ago. She had been on the West Coast for forty years, for the last twenty-five of which she had resided in Greymouth. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs R. Bellis (Greymouth), and Mrs W. Wallace. (Ross), and three sons, George (Greymouth), James (Te Kinga), and Charles (Paroa). The interment will be private.
