OPERA HOUSE. The magnificently thrilling classic, “Susafct Lenox,” with the one and onl? Greta Garbo, and the screen’s fascinating lover, Clark Gable, will be presented. The settings present a wide latitude in situations, locations and emotions, the Minnesota farm, the circus carnival, sideshow tents, the ultramodern New York penthouse, designed to show the glamour and lavishness with which the rising woman has surrounded herself; a charming country cottage, Follies dressing rooms and many vivid storm settings. “Young As You Feel” heads an alltalking programme to be presented on Sunday night. Proceeds as usual will be devoted to the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund. RUNANGA TO-NIGHT. “Transatlantic” will be presented tonight. BLACKBALL TO-NIGHT. “Young As You Feel” will be presented at Blackball to-night, and “Susan Lenox” on Sunday night. WALLSEND SUNDAY. “Follow Through” is the fare for Wallsend on Sunday night. CIVIC BAND DANCE. To-night is to be a gala night at Schaef’s Hall, when the Greymouth Civic Band’s Old Time Dance will be in full swing, with all the latest and bright The Buller reps, will be there.

CHILDREN’S BALL. The children’s plain and fancy dress ball held in the Town Hall last evening in aid of the schools’ and hospital Queen (Miss Maida Topliss) was a most successful function, there being aproximately 350 children on the floor, in addition to a large gathering of onlookers. The fancy costumes of the children added much to the gaiety of 'the evening. Supper was provided by the Ladies’ Committee and during the evening, operatic character solos and duo’s were given by pupils of Miss, Mavis Burgoyne and Miss Dorothy Thwaites. Messrs Tempero and Rollinson, assisted by teachers of the various schools acted as M’s.C. On behalf of the Schools’ and Hospital Queen, Mr R. McLaren (chairman), thanked those present for their attendance, and emphasised the important duty they were doing in assisting the unemployed. The Judges of the fancy costumes, Mesdames J. W. Hannan and F. M. Dennehy, awarded the prizes as follow: — Best Dressed Girl. —Miss M. Clouston, Lady of Court (17th century).Best Dressed Boy.—Master Owen McCarthy, “Courtier.” Most Original (Girl). —Miss Hazel Glen, “Irish Sweepstake.” Best Hard Up Costume. —Masters Leslie and Bill Groom, “Two Old Timers.” Tiny Tots—Master Raymond Hill, “Father Christmas.” Tiny Tots (Boys),—Master J. Orange, “Pugilist.” I Best Character. —Miss June Raw-1 lins, “Little Old Lady.”

POSITIONS OF QUEENS. Flags flown on the Town Hall this morning showed the positions of the Queens as follow:—Sports Queen (Miss Maureen Beban) 1; Schools’ and Hospital Queen (Miss Maida Topliss') 2; Business Queen (Miss Jewel Beck) 3.
