OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. The answer to many a maiden’s prayer is found in the teaming of Greta Garbo and Clark Gable in “Susan Lenox, Her Fall and Rise,” to be screened to-night, Saturday’s matinee and evening. Garbo is magnificent as the heroine of the story. Leonard’s fine direction keeps the picture moving at a rapid tempo, reaching a gripping climax after a most novel cross-section showing the disintegration of the girl who climbed from obscurity to power, due to her consuming love for the man who first led her astray.

WALLSBND—TO-NIGHT. “The Cuban Love Song” will be screened at Wallsend to-night. BLACKBALL. “Young As You Feel” is the fare for Blackball to-night and Saturday. LEARNERS’ DANCE Monday night at Herb. Moore’s Will be the first night of the learners’ onestep competition. Five couples Will be chosen from the next two Monday nights, with the semi-final the following week. So get your partners early. Valuable prize for Winner.

UNEMPLOYED DANCE. To-morrow night at the Town Hall, the unemployed will hold their weekly dance, at which the Mayor’s Championship Waltzing Competition will commence. The competition will be run for six weekly dances. For five succeeding Saturday nights, the best waltzing couples will be selected, and on the sixth night will be, held the semi-final, with the final on the following Saturday. The judging will be in the hands of Mr Coakley, while the prizes which are very valuable, have been donated by His Worship the Mayor.

BLACKBALL W.E.A. The weekly meeting of the Blackball W.E.A. Circle was held at the residence of Dr Bennett, last evening. Mr N. Thorpe presided. A three-act play “R.U.R.” by Korel Catek, was read, but the discussion was held over until next week.
