TREASURE SALVAGED
NEARLY £500,000 FROM “EGYPT.” [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] _ PARIS, June 24. The Italian salvage ship “Artiglio” has now raised several tons of the sunken liner “Egypt’s” treasure. The storage room of the “Artiglio” is filled, and the ship is going to England to deliver the bullion to underwriters. Nearly half a million pounds sterling worth of gold has already been recovered.
REPORTS OF DISCOVERIES. VANCOUVER, June 24. There is a report that a Canadian expedition, led by Colonel J. E. Leckie, has discovered a pirates’ hoard of treasure, that was buried on Cocos Island, after it had been stolen from the Lima Cathedral .over a century ago. The report is not confirmed. . It is said that a metalophone is believed to have located the “Devonshire” treasure near the spot where Admiral Pallier searched, but the news is’too indefinite for acceptance.
