SHANGHAI DEADLOCK.

SHANGHAI, April 12,
Now outstanding that the issues of the Sino-Japanese dispute are to be transferred to Geneva, following the local deadlock, no possibility is seen of a resumption of the negotiations here until the League Assembly has clarified the resolution responsible for the armistice, particularly on the point of the Japanese evacuation. The British Minister (Sir M. Lampson) indicated the impossibility of continuing the discussions, while both sides are determined to make no further concessions.
HOMELAND TRADE RETURNS.
LONDON, April 12.
The Board of Trade figures show imports decreased by £9,482,000, exports by £2,793,000, and re-exports by £14,000. The principal decreases were: —Imports: Food and drink £1,957,000, iron and steel and manufactures thereof £723,000, cotton, yarns and manufactures £658,000, woollen ditto £1,060,000, apparel £l,358,000, miscellaneous manufactured artiles £1,101,000 Exports: Coal £572,000, vehicles £1,342,000 Increases: —Imports: Grain and flour £766,000, raw cotton £1,060,000, raw wool £807,000. Exports: Cotton yarns and manufactures £979,000 HOMELAND SUMMERTIME. LONDON, April 12. Summertime will begin on April 17. MILLION GIRL GUIDES. LONDON, April 12. Presiding at the annual meeting of the Girl Guides, the Princess Royal announced that the world membership had passed a million.
