COBDEN FOOTPATH
[TO the editor.] Sir, —Would you kindly allow me a little space in your paper to ventilate a public grievance. The condition of the footpath between Cobden bridge and the Harbour Board sheds, is in a disgraceful state, being covered with gravel and yellow muddy clay. When people going or coming to Cobden have to wade through this stretch of no-man’s-land, I would like to know who is responsible for the cleaning up of this mess, which was caused by the “big shot” that was recently fired by the Harbour Board. Surely the members of our own wonderful Town Board are not going to let this state of affairs go on from one week to another and do nothing in the matter. Every person one meets, seems to have a grievance about the bad state of the roads, and the condition, of our footpaths generally. We are paying away rates year after year and the “old. town” seems to be getting more dilapidated. If the present , members of the Board cannot better conditions, why not hand the lock-stock-and barrel over to the Borough or County Council. Some time ago ] a public meeting was called and a ] committee was formed to see if it was ] possible to amalgamate, with the above Borough or County and yet nothing has been heard of from that c group of gentlemen arid like Rip Van £ Winkle, are still sleeping. Yours, etc., 1 WAKE-UP. A
