INDIAN UNREST
RIOT AT ALLAHABAD.

DELHI, April 9.
The deliberate defiance of a Magistrate’s order banning a procession led to a grave outbreak of rioting in Allahabad.
Mrs Motilal Nehru was struck on the head by a stone. A number of the police were injured. One constable had an arm blown off by a bomb flung from a railway bridge.
The rriob kept up a running fight along a road. Electric lines and standards were pulled down. The city was plunged in darkness for hours. Armed pickets are now in control.
POLICE FORCED TO FIRE.
(Recd. April 11, 1 p.m.) CALCUTTA, April 10.
More rioting occurred at Allahabad. The .police were compelled to fire on several occasions to disperse the crowds of many thousands, incited by Congress agitators, threatening to loot and burn the houses in the European quarters.
The police were repeatedly stoned and several injured, and when surrounded were forced to open fire into the mobs, killing one and injuring many.
