The Kiwitea left Auckland on Wednesday for Greymouth, with general cargo, The vessel is due on Monday, and will load coal for Wellington. The Kaponga arrived early this mdrriing, via New Plymouth, and will load coal for Wellington. The kaihiirp sailed, early this morning, Coal laden, for Auckliand.' "The Alexander will leave Wellington on Tuesday next, and Nelson bn Wednesday, for Westport and Gteymouth, with general cargo. The vessel is due on Thursday night, and fcill load coal for Nelson. • The Kini is due from Dunedin, via ports. on Friday. At Westport the vessel will load coal for New Plymouth, and at Greymouth coal and timber for Miramar and Wellington. The Kanna is due on Tuesday from Westport, to complete a cargo of coal for Auckland. A U.S.S. Co. vessel is due on Saturday next to load timber for Sydiiey, Brisbane arid Newcastle. OVERLOADED VESSEL. [FEB PBESB ASSOCIATION.] NELSON, March 11. What the Magistrate described as a rather novel charge, was called on today, when the Collector of Customs chraged Thomas Henderson, master of the auxiliary vessel “The Portland,” with overloading his ship by submerging the centre 'loadline disc. The Collector said that the Department took a rathei* serious view of the case, in the interests of the safety 1 of the crew. For tlie defence, it was stated that th® weight of coal varied according to whether it was wet or hot. The Magistrate sai dthat the law was made for preserving safety at sea. 1 A fine of £5 was imposed.
