STILL AT LARGE

PRISON CAMP ESCAPEE,

[PER press association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, March 11. The search for Charles Bennett, the escapee from the J-lautu prison camp, has moved from Wanganui to the Waikawau district, Awakino. Bennett escaped three weeks ago, with Edgar W. Alien, who was recaptured at Waverley. Bennett is thought to have driven up the Manganui Road in a car, answering a description of the one taken from Wanganui. The car was seen by a settler’s wife, who communicated with the police. The car later was found abandoned, and was recovered by the police. A man was seen walking on the load, and subsequently a Waverley bank cheque-book and other articles, were found, three miles from Awakino. . The police are still searching in the wooded country.
