WIRELESS LICENSES
( 341,394 IN AUSTRALIA. CANBERRA. February 26. In answer to Mr. Guy (Tas.) in the House of Representatives this morning the Postmaster-General (Mr. Fenton) stated that wireless receiving licenses operating on January 31 in tlfevarious States were:—New South Wales, 127.734; Victoria, 134,523: Queensland, 26,775; South Australia, 32,560; Western Australia, 11,046; Tasmania, 8756. The total for the Commonwealth was thus 341,394. The allocation of the money derived from license fees for the year ended June 30, 1931, was: —Australian Broadcasting Company, £186,949; Amalgamated Wireless, Ltd., £49,365; Commonwealth, £146,673. Total £382,987. The Australian Broadcasting Company, said the Minister, paid a royalty to the Australasian Performing Rights ' Association on the following basis: — ; On the first. 250,000 licenses, 2/- per li- ' cense.
