OTTAWA CONFERENCE

NEW ZEALAND DELEGATES [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DANNEVIRKE, March 11. A suggestion was made, at a large meeting of representatives- of farming and commercial interests, from Pahiatua to Dannevirke, that Sir James Parr should be recommended to the Government as one of the delegates for the Ottawa Conference. Sir James Parr, whb had just previously given an impressive address on Empire trade, said that the suggestion was a surprise to him. He had not thought of asking or seeking an appointment as a delegate, but was quite willing to assist in the preparatory work. The personnel of the delegation was purely a matter for the Government to decide.

The meeting decided unanimously to recommend his appointment to the Government.
