Australian Lawn Tennis Association has informed the New Zealand Association that it will be impossible for the Davis Cup team to play exhibition matches at Auckland in March and at a later date, as the team is not leaving Sydney until March 31. The New Zealand Association is being asked whether arrangements can be made for one-day exhibition matches at Auckland. SOCCER. LONDON, March 10. BRIDSON’S NEW RECORD. AUCKLAND, March 10. A brilliant performance was established by G. Bridson, the New Zealand sprint swimming champion, in a successful official atack on his own 220yds Dominion free style record of 2min 23 l-ssec at a carnival controlled by the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club. Bridson covered the first 100yds in 59 2-ssec, and completed the distance in 2min 23 3-ssec., which was an improvement of 2 3-ssec on the previous figures- This is the fourth record Bridson has established this season. The best time for the 220yds on record for an Australian is the performance of 2min 22 4-ssec, standing to the credit of Andrew (“Boy”) Charlton. The Australian record, 2min 17sec, is held by K.
