EMPIRE BROADCASTING.

RUGBY, February 15.
The Postmaster-General in the House of Commons, said that the work of constructing a new station for Empire broadcasting was in (hand. The British Broadcasting Corporation hoped to provide a regular service from this station before the end of the year. The scheme was being financed out of the Corporation’s revenue, and no question of an overseas contribution would be raised until the service was established.
BOMB AT VATICAN CITY.
ROME, February 15.
At Vatican City, it is now thought possible that the bomb was placed in position on Thursday, when Signor Mussolini passed the memorial after his interview with the Pope.
ARMY MEAT CONTRACT
LONDON, February 16.
The Australian Press Association learns that Thomas Borthwick & Sons (Australasia) Ltd., secured the bulk of War Office half yearly contract for six thousand tons of frozen beef for the home Command.
AUSTRALIAN WHEAT.
VANCOUVER, February 16.
The Australian wheat shipment barred here has been sold to Japan. Local millers sought to use it for pastry flour, hoping to replace with the Australian product the soft wheat imported from the United States, but the Canadian Government imposed a 42 per cent. duty. Millers are planning to urge the Governs mu t to clarify the grain certificate situation to admit Australian wheat. Major L. A. Andrews, former Canadian lumber representative in Australia, is urging Canadians to aid Australia to work out the citrus fruit .problems. He states that exportation to Canada is only in the experimental stage.
