GAS DEATH MYSTERY
QUARREL OVER LOVE AFFAIR. LONDON, December 26. A dead man in a gas-filled bedroom, With taps turned off and no escape of gas, has given Liverpool police a difficult problem. The victim is Alexander Henderson, 53, a docks checker, who was found dead in his lodgings in Bessbrook Bead, Aigburth. There were wounds in the head, and the police learned that Henderson and a younger man had had a quarrel over Henderson’s love affair. The young man was taken to the police station, but inquiries showed that the two men had shaken hands after their quarrel, and Hender- ■ tin’s wound;-, having been bathed, he returned to his lodgings. The coroner ordered a post-mortem examination, which showed that Henderson's injuries had no relation to his deatth, which was due entirely to coal gas poisoning. The young man was then released.
