TEST MATCH PROSPECTS. MELBOURNE, February 11. Blankets were used to dry the test wicket, for to-morrow. The forecast is cloudy and possible showers, becoming cooler, with drying westerly winds. It is confidently believed that the match will begin on time, and that the wicket will be slow and easy. FINANCIAL PROBLEM. SYDNEY, February 12. Regarding the statement that should the fifth test not be concluded by Thursday, thus enabling the Springboks to catch Friday’s boat to New Zealand, the tour will be cancelled, Melbourne messages say that Mr Tandy (manager) is worried over the position. If the South Africans do not go to New Zealand, a suggestion is made that an extra match be played at Sydney to help to swell the funds.
