In the boxing contest, Reggie Meen beat Smith, whose age is 23 years, and is the youngest boxer to hold the British heavyweight title. His victory was a surprise, as Smith won then two previous fights, but Meen was the more aggressive, and boxed well throughout. He started a two handec body assault, Smith replying with punishing lefts.
