Miss M. Cotter was a passenger for Christchurch, to-day.

Mr D. McKane, Secretary of the Inangahua Miners’ Union, is seriously ill.

Mrs H. P. Stark, of Sydney, is visiting her sisters, the Misses Berry, Alexander Street.

Mrs. W. Costello, and Miss M. Costello, Thompson Street, left, this morning, on a holiday visit to Christchurch.

Miss M. Wellwood of Hastings, will arrive to-day on a visit to friends in Greymouth.

Mr and Mrs A. McQueen (Dunedin) will arrive this afternoon, on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. C. McQueen, Omoto Road.

Mrs L. J. Macßeynolds will arrive to-day from the North Island on a visit to her mother, Mrs. > J. Kennedy, Chapel Street.

Mrs Thacker, of London, and formerly of Brunner, has returned to the West Coast and will reside with Miss Troy, Cobden.

The wedding was,, solemnised at Hokitika, yesterday afternoon, of Mr. F. Vroblefski to Miss R. French. Mr. and Mrs. Vroblefski left this morning for Christchurch.

The death occurred at Westport, on Friday evening, of Mrs. Myrtle Thomafe, aged 43 years, wife of Mr. Cliff Thomas, the boxing referee. She leaves, in addition to her husband, two sons and four daughters.

The funeral of the late Mr. Charles Adam Smith took place, this afternoon, at the Karoro Cemetery. The services at the residence of Mr. C. Haglund, High Street, and at the graveside, were conducted by the Rev. G. Barker, Ahaura.

Out of 60 applications received by the Tuapeka County Council, Lawrence, Central Otago, for the position of county clerk, treasurer, and returning officer to the county, Mr Ronald F. Batchelor has been appointed. Mr Batchelor is at present county clerk at Murchison.

Under the will of the late Caroline Sarah Greenslade, of Dunedin, whose estate is sworn at £lOO,OOO, £2,000 is left to each of the following: Anglican Boys’ Home, St. Mary’s Anglican Orphanage, St. Paul’s Cathedral fund, Anglican Country Clergy fund, Little Sisters of the Poor, and the Presbyterian Social Service Association. — Press Assn.

A presentation was made by the members of the Municipal Band, to Mr. W. Robertson, who left for Nelson to-day. The Conductor, Mr. W. Garth, who made the presentation, referred to Mr. Robertson as a sterling bandsman and said that all regretted his departure and wished him good luck. Other members spoke similarly. The death is announced from London of Lieutenant-General Sir William Reyton, K.C.8., who was noted . for . his exceptional physical dimensions. He was 65 years of age. He enlisted in the ranks of the 7th Dragoon i Guards, of which his father was Colonel. Owing to his height of seventy-eight inches, and his fine presence he was selected as Herald during the King’s durbar at Delhi in 1911.
