BIG APPEAL LAUNCHED. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] LONDON, November 13.
The Prince of Wales will on Monday inaugurate the biggest “Buy British" campaign in the history of that movement, with a ten minutes’ broadcast, after which Mr Thomas will also broadcast. The Erppire Marketing Board is arrange for the exhibition by three thousand cinemas of a two minutes’ talkie featuring Mr Ramsay MacDonald and Mr George Lansbury appealing to buy British. The Board also is displaying four million posters, and organising loud speaker appeals to the Soccer crowds.
The Federation of British Industries has distributed twelve million stamps for use on trade envelopes. A special appeal is being made to housewives to insist on British products. ANTI-DUMPING DUTIES. [OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, November 14. It is understood that the Bill giving drastic powers to deal with dumping foreign goods will be introduced in the Commons, in the latter part of next week. An important statement on the subject will be made by Mr Runciman on Monday, and it is believed the scope of this announcement was considered and approved by a meeting of the Cabinet last evening. “The Times” anticipates that the measure will provide the Board ot Trade with powers to impose emergency duties on the (importation of goods dumped upon the British market, the maximum duty being fixed at such a figure as would in some cases virtually amount to prohibition.
