TAXI DRIVER ATTACKED

Allegedly struck on the head with an object that left a gash, George Leahy, taxi driver, was sent to hospital. • It is stated that Leahy picked up a fare about midnight, and was driving down Taranaki Street, when the passenger signified that he wished to alight. The driver was pulling up when it is alleged the man struck him with what is believed to be a bar of iron. On arrival at a garage,' Leahy was in a state of collapse, and was rushed to the hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious. I
