MUNGANA VERDICT
ATTACKED IN PARLIAMENT [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] \ (Rec. November 7, 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, November 7. In a speech described by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Smith) as “the most extraordinary ever made in this Chamber by the chief legal representative of the Crown,” the Attorney General (Mr. MacGroarty) attacked the Mungana verdict and called McCormack and Theodore “dishonoured men and cowards.”
Mr. McGroarty added: While we accept the verdict in law, we do not need to agree with the jury’s findings. The only conclusion is that Theodore undoubtedly got money from McCormack, as his share of the sale of Mungana Mines to the Government.
