MONTHLY RETURNS
PORT OF GREYMOUTH. Shipping returns for the Port of Greymouth for the month of October are: Vessels inward 24, with an aggregate tonnage of 13,791 tons, and vessels outward 22, with an aggregate tonnage of 13,388 tons. RAINFALL. 8-80 inches of rain were registered during the month of October, rain falling on IS days. The maximum fall recorded on any one day was 1.81 inches, which fell on October 1. For the same month last year, 13.30 inches of rainfall were recorded, on 21 days, with a maximum for any one day of 2.48 inches on October 6. VITAL STATISTICS. The figures for vital statistics registered at the Greymouth Courthouse for the month of October are (the figures for October of last year being given in parentheses). Births 31 (32), deaths 24 (10), marriage notices issued 9 (8). During October one marriage was conducted by the Registrar, and last October there was none. CUSTOMS REVENUE. A decrease of £646 2/2 over the amount collected last year during the month of October is shown by the returns of customs collected in Greymouth during the month ending to-day. This year the amount for the month totalled £1657 3/10, and in October of last year it was £2,304 2/2.
