PEPPER IN EYES
BOGUS ROBBERY STORY. [PIE PEKSS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, October 30. On Tuesday morning, William Henry Symons, butcher. Wanganui East, reported to the police that at. 6.30 I hat morning pepper was thrown in his face by a person hiding behind the door of the shop, and that he w r as assaulted and robbed of £l4. As a sequel to the story, Detective Murray arrested Symons, last evening, and he appeared before the Court this morning, charged with receiving £l3 12/- on terms requiring him to account for the money to Senior and Bennett, and did fraudulently omit to do so. Detective Murray, in asking for a remand till November 4, stated that Symons now admitted that the story w r as untrue, and that the injuries he sustained were self-inflicted.
