Following the Imperial Conference proposals, Premier Tolmie declared that British Columbia would begin to prepare at once its representations for greater trade with the Dominions, particularly Australia and the United Kingdom. The proposals by Mr Bennett and Mr Forbes to call the Imperial Conference is welcomed by business men. “Trade agreements were never more urgently necessary,” declared Lord Elibank, Chairman of the Federation of the Empire Chamber of Commerce. “The conditions were never more favourable. The Federation is continuing to do its utmost to promote Imperial preference.”
