KOTITI WRECK

CABIN DOOR FOUND ?

[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.]

WELLINGTON, October 27.

A cabin door believed to have belonged to the Kotiti’s deck house was found floating in the sea about one chain from the Kapiti Island on Sunday morning by E. W. Baminger of Palmerston North and F. A. Saunders Paraparaumu. The door was brought to Wellington this afternoon by its finders. It will be taken to the Marine Department to-morrow morning to see if it can be identified.

The door is about five feet in height and two in width. It is painted white on one side with a red square round the lock and is red, and heavily splashed with white paint on the other side. Both hinges have been torn from the door which does not appear to have been in water for many days. The door is as near as can be judged, the size of those on the Kotiti’s deck house.
