REEFTON, October 5. The Star football team from Westport arrived here on Saturday evening, and were entertained in the ay cninfe at a dance in the band room. Harkness (Mayor ot Westport) xvas a visitor to Reefton yesterday. - X. Mr Jno- White, of Blacks Point, accompanied his son George to Christchurch on Saturday. The latter will enter a sanatorium. The members of St. Stephen S Ladies’ Guild held a successful cake day and Paddy’s Market on Saturdy, and report satisfactory resultsAt Wellington on Thursday last a deputation consisting of the Hon. W. H- Mclntyre, chairman of the Nelson Education Board and the secretary (Mr H. J. Thornton) Availed upon the Hon. R. Masters (Minister of Education) in connection with a new school at Reefton. Mr Mclntyre said that the major portion of the school was erected in 1879 and additions were made in 1884 and 1887- The newest portion of the building is therefore 44 years of age, and the oldest 52. The Minister, in replying, said the matter was purely one of finance. He would go into the question immediately he knew what money was available.
