GREY TECHNICAL SCHOOL

ANNUAL SPORTS Preparations for their annual sports meeting, which takes place on Wednesday at the school grounds, were made by Technical School students this morning. At Victoria Park four races were decided, which are of a distance too great to be run on the school grounds. Other eliminating events were also decided, reducing the number of finalists to four in each event. This process was adopted with the hop step and jump, high jump, long jump, and throwing the cricket ball, Championships decided this morning were: —

440 yards junior.—E. H. Kibble 1. Dalziell 2,* Walter 3, There was a large field, and this was a good race, the winner's time, 61 4-5 secs., being a school record.

440 vards senior.—Smith 1. Armstrong‘2, Wilde. 3. Another big field contested this event, and a thrilling race resulted. Leach was leading to within five yards of the tape when he fell. Time 57 1-5, another school record.

880 yards junior.—Dalziell 1, Freitas 2, E. Kibble 3. Time 2.38 4-5. 880 yards senior.—Smith 1. Hart 2, Matheson 3. Time 2.21 2-5.
