Bobby Pearce to-night defeated Ken Myers, of Philadelphia, by two lengths to win the Philadelphia Gold Cup for the second successive year. The time was five minutes forty-six seconds. GOLF. SYDNEY, September 11In the second round of the Australian Women’s Golf Championship today, Miss Susie Tolhurst, the Victorian, played phenomenal golf. She made no mistake, and was two under fours at the twelfth, where she defeated Mrs Pennefather eight up and six to play. Then playing on, Miss Tolhurst returned a card showing seven strokes less than the course record for women. Other results: Mrs Slack beat Miss L. Wray, one up; Miss Lefebore beat Miss Hammond, four and three; Miss Mona McLeod beat Mrs Tregloan, three and two. The semi-finals will be played on Monday. CHANNEL SWIM. LONDON, September 11. Lily Coppiestone informed a “Sun” representative that the weather had been foul, and if it does not improve within ten days she fears the Channel swim will be impossible this year. TENNIS NEW YORK, September 11. At Forest Hills in the semi-finals today, Lott defeated Doeg 7/5, 6/3, 6/0.
