The Rata sailed last night, coal laden, for Onakaka and Nelson. The Kaimiro sailed last night with coal and timber for Wellington and Auckland. She is due to return to Greymouth on September 21 ,to load a cargo of timber for Melbourne. The Alexander is due from Tarakohe on Tuesday to load coal for Wanganui. The Kanna left Westport this morning, and is due this afternoon, to load coal, completing at Westport for New Plymouth. The Kaponga is due from Wellington on Wednesday to load coal for return, completing at Westport. PROPELLER SHAFT BREAKS. ! NEW PLYMOUTH, September 11. I The starboard propeller shaft of the motorship “Hauturu” snapped as -the vessel was leaving for Onehunga to-day. A new shaft is being brought from Auckland, and will be fitted tonight. ‘ . This is the second occasion her starboard shaft has broken. About two months ago a similar accident occurred when the vessel was off Patea, and she reached New Plymouth after .a battle with rough seas, and with water leaking through her stern tube.
