PARIS, September 11.
Two French machines left for Tokio, in the attempt to break. Bordman and Polando’s distance record. Lebrix and Doret Mesmin, who crashed in the previous attempt (July 14) took off in the monoplane Hypen the Second, with 650 Horsepower Hispano engine. Poulcodos and Henrirobida took off in the Breguet biplane “Questionmark,” Costa’s famous machine. The millionaire-scentmaker and newspaper owner, Francois Coty is backing Lebrix. The French Air Ministry is offering £BOOO for the recapture of the record.

dress from the theatres and cabarets. The weather is reported to be favourable.
ITALIAN KILLED.
ROME, September 11
An Italian machine that was entered for the Schneider Cup, crashed oh fire into Lake Garda. Pilot Bellini was killed.

There is nationwide expression of sympathy and regret at the continued absence of news of Allen and Moyle. The conviction is held that they perished in the gallant attempt to conquer the Pacific.
