Devine’s explanation was that he fired in self-defence at the occupant of Moffitt’s cab, and that the bullet inadvertently killed Moffitt. WOMEN’S MEETING. SYDNEY, September 9. A meeting of the women members of the Sane Democracy League, held In the Sydney Town Hall to-day, was marked by disorderly scenes. Seven women Communists were ejected by the police. They were fighting, resisting, screaming, using the most violent language. The meeting passed a resolution in favour of expelling Communists from the country.
